Fifteen Years in the Making
For the past 15 years, Rob and Emma — the husband-and-wife team behind our practice — have built something genuinely special at Newby Dental Practice in Scarborough. A family-run practice with a reputation for outstanding patient care, clinical excellence and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps patients coming back year after year.
Right at the heart of that team, through every milestone and every challenge, was Katie. For 15 years, Katie was the backbone of the Scarborough practice — a skilled, dedicated and deeply trusted member of the team who became as much a part of Newby Dental as Rob and Emma themselves.
There was, however, one rather significant complication. Katie lives in York. And for 15 years, that meant the A64.
The A64 Problem
If you know the A64, you’ll understand. Through rain, snow, summer tourist traffic and the particular chaos of a bank holiday weekend, Katie made that journey — day in, day out — because she believed wholeheartedly in the way Rob and Emma look after their patients. That’s the kind of commitment that’s hard to put a value on.
Rob and Emma always knew it. And they made Katie a promise: “If the right building ever becomes available in York, we’ll build a clone of Newby Dental Practice right there on your doorstep.”
A New Chapter in Heslington
When the opportunity finally arose in Heslington village, they knew immediately that it was time to make good on that promise. Not just to open another surgery — but to transplant everything that makes Newby Dental what it is. The same family ethos. The same friendly faces. Today, Heslington Dental Practice is open — a brand new, state-of-the-art dental practice at 11/12 Main Street, Heslington, York. And the biggest change for Katie? She has finally traded hours of gridlock and motorway stress for a short local commute and the chance to serve the community she has always called home.
